Ask a question...
General
- What in the heck is a Yellow Aeroplane?
- Your guess is as good as ours. After countless brainstorming sessions failed to produce a name, we had to take drastic measures. We decided to put an iPod on "shuffle" mode and use parts of the first two songs that played. The first tune was "Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles, follow by Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea." It was a beautiful match made in randomness. Hey, it beats "Yellow Walrus," right ?
- Who are we?
- Yellow Aeroplane LLC is a web design, development, and hosting company located in Lorain, Ohio. Our company was formed in 2008 by a few ambitious guys with a passion for all things "Internet."
- What do we do?
- Believe it or not, we do quite a bit! We are experienced programmers, graphic designers, and copywriters. We provide a wide variety of services and solutions that can be molded to produce exactly what our customers desire.
- What is the Internet?
- The Internet is a series of tubes used transmit information. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a large truck. ;-)
Site Design
- What languages do you use?
- We consider ourselves pretty darn good at writing HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and linking them together. We also like to use PHP for content management & restriction and JavaScript for aesthetics.
Hosting
- How will my domain be registered?
- Once you've picked out a name for your site, it's obvious that you'd like to keep it yours. For this reason, the first step in website creation is properly registering your domain name with a licensed registrar. We prefer using GoDaddy as our registrar, but we're fine with using another if you'd like. Once a domain is registered, there are four "contact" forms that must be filled out. The "registrant" and "administrative" forms will use your name, address, e-mail, and phone number, while the "technical" and "billing" forms will contain ours (to keep everything simple). If you decide to host your site somewhere else in the future, we'll happily forward everything to your name... no questions asked!
Sales
- Why do you use PayPal (and not your own payment processor)?
- We use PayPal because in our eyes, it's the safest, most reliable online payment processor out there. Writing our own secure payment processor would require a great amount of time and effort, and quite honestly, wouldn't be worth the time or added risk for the relatively small amount of Internet transactions we actually do.
- Do I need to open a PayPal account to purchase something?
- You sure don't. If you'd like to pay by Credit Card via PayPal, all you have to do is enter your card information and you're all set. Of course, if you do have your own PayPal account you'll be able to make payments from there as well.
- Why is there a monthly fee?
- Our modest monthly fee is necessary for site maintenance and hosting. Bandwidth isn't free and neither is the time it takes us to keep your website updated and looking it's best.
